Ivybridge CC vs. Plymouth III - Saturday 21st July 2007
Ivybridge second team faired no better against Plymouth III at Erme Valley. Having lost the toss for the first time this season, Ivybridge were asked to set a target. Tony Mailling (7), Kevin Jacobs (3) and Toby Borrow (0) were all lost early to the bowling of Robins. However a revival from the middle order by Sam Henderson (17) and Ali Winstanley (11) help Ivybridge to 48 for 3 after 15 overs. However both then fell in quick succession to Ashiq and then with Nick Thomas departing for a duck four balls later, Ivybridge had slumped to 53-6. Mike Tuckwell (35) helped the tail wag slightly and with no other batsmen getting into double figures, they were bowled out for an under par 109 in 37.3 overs.
Plymouth had 56 overs to chase down 110 and they didn’t plan to do it in a hurry either. Tight bowling from Gareth Stuckey (0-21) and Pete Boast (0-29) restricted runs but no wickets had fallen. It wasn’t until Adam Warden, who replaced Boast, came on and took what proved to be the only wicket for Ivybridge, in his second over.
Ben Ferraro (31 not out) and Jon Lawrence (47 not out) saw Plymouth home by 9 wickets in the 38th over, with Ivybridge having only taken a solitary point from the match.
