Ivybridge CC vs. Yelverton Bohemians - Saturday 2nd June 2007
At Erme Playing Fields, the seconds also had a 20 point victory against early pace setters Yelverton Bohemians. Ivybridge gave a Devon League debut to fifteen year old Josh Zimmerman on the back of some good performances in colts cricket.
The experienced Gerry Keen (59), Beare (30), and Suleman (35 not out) were the main run getters for Yelverton as they were able to post 201 all out. There were wickets for Gareth Stuckey (3 for 36), Chris Greenhouse (3 for 16) and Nick Thomas (2 for 52). Debutant Zimmerman showed what he could do in the field, with a good piece of fielding to run out Watkins. Ivybridge’s fielding showed a distinct improvement from the previous week and including an excellent one hand catch at slip by Sam Henderson.
Greenhouse and Henderson got Ivybridge off to a solid start, reaching 31 inside 8 overs, before Henderson was dismissed. Jeff Wakeham and Greenhouse kept up the early momentum adding 73 for the second wicket before Wakeham was bowled by Heath.
Kev Jacobs joined Greenhouse and the pair began to close in on the victory target. Greenhouse was eventually dismissed for 76, with 51 still needed. Jacobs (49 not out) and Mike Tuckwell (20 not out) finished the job off with four overs remaining.
