Yelverton Bohemians CC vs. Ivybridge CC - Saturday 4th August 2007
The second team also picked up 20 points, away to Yelverton. After the home side won the toss, they asked Ivybridge to bat first. The decision looked to be a good one, as the visitors were 54-4 after 21 overs. However a partnership of 70 between Kevin Jacobs and Tim Lancaster (19) saw Ivybridge to 124-5 after 33 overs. Aidan Tookey departed for 3, but youngster Josh Mailling stayed with Jacobs, who finished 125 not out, to the end of innings and saw Ivybridge to 209-6 after their allotted 46 overs.
Yelverton’s reply didn’t get off to the best of starts, as Gareth Stuckey and Paul Veale struck in consecutive overs. And when Jacobs took an edge from the bowling of Stuckey, the hosts were left at 8-3. Number four, Gerry Keen, was the only batsman who showed resilience against The Bridgers with 85. Young Josh Mailling picked up four wickets with his first spell of Devon League bowling, included the last two wickets in three balls. Yelverton were bowled out for 163 but had 6 overs remaining to chase down their total. 40 points for Ivybridge over a very successful weekend.
